Coinbase in the spotlight for documentaries

People will be able to watch the movie on other streaming platforms besides Amazon, such as iTunes and YouTube. According to Armstrong, Cohes and his team were given “unprecedented access” to the company and its internal operations.

The story will follow Coinbase and its founder and CEO from inception to the company’s debut in the US public markets. As shown in the trailer below, big crypto personalities such as Ethereum inventor Vitalik Buterin, Bitcoin bull Michael Saylor, and others will be featured in the documentary.

Armstrong claims that the film will show the “good, the bad, and the ugly” behind the company and the crypto industry. Via Twitter, the CEO of Coinbase said the following about the films’ ultimate goal:

I agreed to make this documentary because I wanted to demystify what it takes to build a tech startup and encourage more people to start businesses. I also wanted to demystify cryptography. The world tends to either demean the founders or put them on a pedestal. Both are untrue – they are just normal people trying to make something people want.

The trailer shows young Armstrong, young Coinbase, and the young cryptocurrency industry all tied to a single asset and its vision: Bitcoin, decentralization, and providing people with access to this financial tool.

Coinbase history with multimedia content

Additionally, Armstrong claims that the documentary will show the intricacies of starting and running a business. In particular, a company in an emerging industry, such as crypto, within an unregulated sector or a sector that has gained a lot of negative attention from governments around the world.

The film is supposed to have a positive impact on many people, including those looking to walk the path of entrepreneurs and those working with government agencies, regulators and lawmakers. The CEO added:

I reached out to Greg after watching another movie he created called AlphaGo, about DeepMind defeating Go champion, Lee Sedol. It was a powerful story, and that’s what convinced me to trust him to tell our story. I hope you all go and see the movie – and that the policy makers watch too. I think it will help in promoting the cryptocurrency cause,

As reported by Bitcoinist, this isn’t the first time a cryptocurrency exchange has ventured into multimedia content. A couple of months ago, the company released the first chapter of a series called “The Degen Trilogy,” the installment received negative feedback from the crypto community.
